Archie: Some thoughts on your list of accomplishments.

1/ Osama is dead and Obama gave the order to go get him.

Agreed.

2/ Today GM announces 3.2 billion profit this quarter. If Obama hadn't "bailed them out" they would not be in
business today and tens of thousands more would be without jobs.

This is not only wrong it is silly. GM would not have gone out of business (i.e., Ch 7), They would have reorganized under Ch. 11 and may well have generated even more profit had they been free to rid themselves of their outrageous pension liability. But because Obama violated the rights of bondholders and gave away part of GM to the unions as reparations for their financial support of his campaign and future promises to support him GM is still saddled with the long-term and ridiculous cost of the unions. Strike that as an accomplisment.

3/ "Obamacare" was passed. You don't like it but my neighbors down the street who have been able to keep two
kids just starting their careers on their policy do. They just hope it isn't taken away by the GOP. (BTW the male
half of the family voted for McCain and now regrets it and expects to be an Obama voter next year.)

This is even sillier. First of all if this was an important consideration for them there are any number of states where they could get the same result and even more. Of course in those states health insurance is much costlier and finding care is getting much harder but hey, if thats what they want they can go get it. And maybe they ought to tell their kids to get a decent job that has insurance rather than asking all the rest of us to pay for them through higher premiums. So far the only result of Obamacare is higher premiums, more debt, etc. All negatives which is why a majority of Americans favor its repeal and that number is growing the more they learn and experience. And it cost him control of the House and will cost him control of the Senate in 2012. And it will add trillions to the deficit. So if you consider all these negatives an accomplishment then I guess I would agree with you. To me it is a disaster.

4/ Obama has put new "regulations" on banks which at least stand a chance of preventing a new meltdown. Of
course the Repubs are trying to repeal or defund it. You know it must be good since the banks hate it so much.

You need to do a little reading beyond your Moveon.org blast emails. The banking industry has been one of the most regulated in our country for decades. None of that prevented the financial meltdown and in fact it is well known and widely accepted (by intelligent people with the integrity to admit it) understanding that it was government distortion of the markets that caused the meltdown and not a lack of regulation. This is exactly the kind of "do something-accomplish nothing" legislation that makes idiots feel good but nothing more. Strike that as an accomplishment.

5/ The employment rate has dropped from 10.1% at its peak to 8.8% and 1.5 million jobs have come back.
It's cerrtainly no boom but it sure beats the free fall of the last quarter of 2008.

This has been the worst recovery since the Great Depression because of Obama's fecklessness. You act as if it is and accomplishment?!?!? And of course today's announcement that unemployment is up over 9% kind of guts your accomplishment. If we had sensible fiscal policy we would be below 8% today and moving lower. Strike that as an accomplishment.

6/ I traveled extensively in Europe in the fall of 2006 and the spring of 2008 and The American was, rightly or
wrongly, feared as a dangerous man and derided as a fool. When I traveled to Europe last year, the American
President was again respected by all we met. WW, I know you don't give two hoots in He// what the rest
of the world thinks about the US and her President, but others who are not idiots do!!

Agreed. If you consider the admiration of a continent that is headed toward fiscal and demographic destruction an accomplishment then I will give you that one. As for me, I could care less what a bunch of socialist, lazy Europeans that have been living fat and happy because we pay for their national defense (after we saved them from fascism) think about us. And anyone who does care about what the Europeans think about us has to explain to me why it is important. Why do you so slavishly pine for their admiration? I for one will not seek my validation from a continent that is so screwed up and has been for decades. I have more respect for myself and my country than that.

So Archie the only thing Obama has done right in over two years is order the whacking of OBL, or maybe more to the point eventually agreed with Panetta and Clinton to whack him. All the other so-called accomplishments have either done nothing to help the country, demonstrate his incompetence or are moving us toward fiscal ruin. Of course, if you hate America like the left wing nuts do you would of course like all these things.
