Subject:   Flooded outboard...what to do?
Date:   6/24/2011 8:17:53 PM

Have an 8 HP four stroke outboard. Four-five years old. Runs great. However, it is very easier to flood. When that happens, I can sometimes see raw gas in the water around the prop. When flooded, will not start, want even fire at all. If I wait some times for an hour or so, maybe longer, it will fire up. What does one do in a shorter period of time to start a flooded engine? If you are thinking about such suggestions as cursing, kicking it, standing on my head, blaming the wife, holding my breath, praying, or trying to sell it to my neighbor, I can assure you none of these work. Any help would be appreciated.
