4 July 2011Upper Lake Guntersville and Nickajack – What a way to spend the 4th of July morning,  I had the pleasure of be joined by Bruce Baldwin from Jasper TN for a dual lake trip today.   If you’re tired of all the traffic on the lowerend of Guntersville, try up lake/river.  The fish are not nearly as presured and both areas (Guntersville and Nickajack) offer some great fishing.  We started out on the very upper end of Lake Guntersville and when the action there slowed down we went to Lake Nickajack.  We  focused on drops, rock banks that had wood on them, road beds with grass close by and ledges catching lots of good quality fish on every stop, working 2-15 FOW.   Water temps are steady at low to mid 80’s.  Our better fish came on Tightline Football Head Jig’s (Guntersville Special) and T-rig.   Most of the fish are today where in the 1.5-3 pound range, with a few 4-6.5 in the mix.ed Ol’monsters.  Our biggest fish today (5.2), was caught on a Ol’Monster in 8 FOW.  We fish several areas with Buzzbaits and spinnerbaits with limited results, nothing major happening.  With low water levels on Nickajack is several areas where the grass is starting to top out, by the end of July we should see an all out frog/rat bite.  Guntersville producing some of the best action we’ve scene this year.   I have days available in July and I'm already booking days for the August and early fall; make your reservations now for some great summer time action on Guntersville and Nickajack. We supply all fishing gear, lures, and drinking water at no additional cost to you and 110% dedication to making your trip successful.  Make your reservations now for some great action on Tennessee River. “Let’s go fish’ in”
