I have heard good and bad. You don't see many of them and there is probably a reason for that. It's hard to beat Yamaha 4-stroke reliability.

E-tec's boasts of less weight, more out of the hole power, and less maintenance. In my opinion those are not worth the risk.

Weight is insignificant, maybe 50 lbs on larger models.
Out of the hole power - who really needs this
Maintenance - how hard is an oil change on a 4-stroke?

I would go with Yamaha or Honda
