Hub, have you ever heard where the explanation of how the expression "Give them the whole nine yards" originated? I heard recently (Senior moment...can't remember where) that it originated in the early days of WW-II
when the rolls of machine gun bullets used on British bombers were coiled in lengths of nine yards per roll. Sounds reasonable.
