Indeed, there is a split in the shift bellows. I saw that earlier, but did not think it could be the source as there is a hose clamp  snugged up tight around the shift connection rod going through the transom. Will have to get it to Clearwater or CAT  etc,  whenever I can get back to the Lake. Again thanks for the input/
