My Dad had a Sportmaster? boat in the 70's and 80's that had a rotted transom. He had pretty much stopped using it, which did not bother my brother and I. I used silicone to seal as best as I could, put a backing plate behind the ski hooks to keep them from pulling the REST of the way through the transom, and kept a working bilge pump in it. My brother had been using it for a while, said the pump had burned out again, but that it was not leaking. Instead of putting it on the trailer, he left it tied up at the end of the pier one night. The neighbors woke him up the next morning to advise him that he now owned a U-boat... Maybe we should have gotten someone to repair it instead.
