My take on it is that the Tea Party members pushed Boehner to refuse the House vote.

I agree it is stupid to keep kicking the can down the road when they should just knuckle down and work it out; but, I would rather see a vote than to see people lose the payroll tax break and the other couple of issues (medicare and one other), which will hurt the already suffering middle class.

And yes, I do think that Tea Party members try to intimidate other Republican members who would vote the issue as they believe. Who says the Tea Party is right? Who says that they are the keepers of the Conservative values? They've certainly got Boehner by the short hairs.
