I am completely mystified with the brouhaha over Bain Capital. First of all, Bain made their money by investing in distressed businesses and attempting to turn them around. Do people really think if the businesses had continued to be run by inept management that no jobs would be lost? To the contrary, many more of these companies would probably have gone belly up instead of trimming the fat, putting in new and competent management and returning to fiscal health thereby allowing Bain to sell at a profit. Anyone with an ounce of business experience would understand that sometimes they will win, sometimes they will lose on their investment.

My only direct experience with Bain Capital is they owned a competing engineering firm called PSI and they tried to purchase a company I worked for to merge it with PSI. As a shareholder I was all for the merger. Our management was incompetent and the combined companies would have been a juggernaut in the industry. But the majority of the shareholders thought otherwise and instead of getting $22 per share in cash, eight years later they got $26 per share. If I had that $22 per share to invest in those eight years it would have been worth $60 per share.......c'est la vie.....

At a time when Oblamer is going to fire a million military employees we are gnashing our teeth over little old Bain Capital?!?!? Talk about a bizarre sense of proportion.....
