I only use ethanol gas when I have to....unfortunately, non-ethanol gas is not available in all areas. I will support any non-ethanol dealer if I'm able to do so; if we don't, we may lose this product and the loss will cause considerable long term expense for those with non-auto type engines (boats, weed eaters, chain saws, pressure washers, lawn tractors, etc; I have all of these). Just ask Cat....

I have done detailed long term mileage testes on my Volvo, BMW's, Suburban, and Honda, and the increase is between 4 and 8 percent depending on the vehicle and driving conditions. The two chemical engineers in my family support the science behind why this is true....it may be hard to believe that adding 10% ethanol to gas can result in as much as a 4-8% drop in fuel economy but most people just don't realize that ethanol has a lower energy content than gas (and it also deteriorates much faster).
