Folks, be prepared for the Oblamer administration to be taking a victory lap over slightly improved job numbers that will be out today (and then revised downward next month to no fanfare). Reminds me of the performance review comment: "The employee sets very low expectations and then consistently fails to meet them". That is exactly what Oblamer and his sycophants in the government media are going to do. Some sobering facts:

1) Job growth needed to keep up with population growth = 220,000 to 250,000: What this means is that the economy needs to add that many jobs just to stay even with our growth in population.

2) Average job growth coming out of a recession = 300,000 to 400,000: Yep, that's right. The average job growth coming out of a typical recession is ~3 times what we have gotten from Oblamer. And the deeper the recession the larger the job growth. Reagan's recovery was in the range of 600,000 jobs each month.

3) Real unemployment is closer to 11%: When you factor in the millions of people that have given up ever finding a job in the last three years that is the real number. When you include the underemployed we are closer to 16% to 17%.

4) Income growth has been close to zero: Even for those that are employed, unlike all previous recoveries, there has been almost no real income growth. What that means is that raises, overtime, etc. is just keeping up with inflation. Hard to fuel consumer spending (the number one driver in the economy) when there is no growth in income.

5) Home prices continue to fall: Once the source of additional spending, homes have now become a losing investment for many Americans. This significantly impacts consumer sentiment in a negative way.

So take the victory lap with a huge grain of salt as the Messiah and the government media attempt to redefine what constitutes a recovery from a recession in the US. Sadly, with the level of economic illiteracy in this country thanks to the horrendous job of our government school system many Americans will fall for it. Just think about it, weekly jobless claims are around 350,000 to 390,000 and monthly we add 120,000 new jobs and unemployment goes down? Common sense is uncommon these days......
