Understand. I had a Sears Gamefisher 7.5 HP outboard one time that was willed to me from my father in law. Supposedly it was "air cooled". So I started it up ot of the water one day to make sure it ran. Couldn't have run it for more than about 30 seconds (yes, a cringe at this point would be appropriate). Put it on the jon boat, set out, and about a minute later the engine slowed and stopped. Started it up again and the same thing happened. After the third restart it wouldn's tart at all. Long story short: It is air AND water cooled and I had ruined the impeller.....and after the engine seized from overheating three or four times, it too was ruined - no compression. When I posted that question I was relly hoping that was NOT the problem he is having.
