This was my favorite couple of paragraphs:

"The overall position and direction of the LM HOBO can be succinctly characterized from a quote in its Oct. 25, 2010 letter to Alabama Power … : ‘All should remember: It’s all about the lake,’” the statement reads. “Unfortunately, it is not all about the lake – it is about the state and federal resource agencies’ interests and responsibilities, it is about the goals and objectives of the nongovernmental organizations; it is about regional economic development needs; it is about the Native American tribes protection of historical resources; it is about minimizing impacts to the downstream interests; it is about the Licensee’s ability to effectively and efficiently manage and operate the hydroelectric development; and, it is also about the lake groups’ desire for the protection and enhancement of the reservoir and all of its associated benefits.”

Alabama Power then continues to explain its stance on raising winter pool to 484 feet rather than the Lake Martin HOBOs’ request of 486 feet.

“Given the LM HOBO’s position and direction quoted above, it is not surprising to see that it does not agree with Alabama Power’s proposal and refuses to consider any compromise toward achieving some degree of stakeholder consensus on this very significant issue,” Alabama Power’s statement reads."

So it seems that APCO is of the same opinion as this humble writer in regards to the HOBO's. The leadership of the HOBO has been about one thing all along, what THEY want, regardless of what anyone else or any scientific data may say is necessary to meet all the requirements put on the licensee. I find it satisfying that of all the groups listed and treated as stakeholders, APCO chose only the HOBO for a slapdown, showing them to be unreasonable in their position.

Now aren't all you dues payers proud of what your leadership squandered your money on? All that time and energy spent to just get a slapdown from APCO, as unreasonable when they were advocating the 484 all along.

Well that is enough 'I told you so' for now. What say the HOBO?
