Quoting osms:

"In addition to your post, we have found that Lake Martin only provides
less than 1/4 of one percent (0.24%) of the megawatts produced by
Alabama Power.  The entire Tallapoosa River system (Harris, Martin,
Yates, and Thurlow) produces a little over 1/2 on one percent (0.64%).

Also,
interesting is the fact that Alabama Power sells about 7% of their
production to other electric companies outside Alabama, which means they
are using Alabama citizen's water for other states.  While it's good
business to sell excess capacity, it's questionable whether doing so at
the expense of Alabama's citizens is best.  By state law, all water in
Alabama belongs to the citizens of Alabama. "

End quote.

Do you have any idea how petty and ridiculous you sound?  Rhetorical question, no  need to embarrass yourself with an answer.  So only .24% of APCO power comes from Martin and 7% of total output goes to other systems. I will leave to others to figure out how little of 'our water' is used to generate to other systems.  APCO, as much as you may not like it, is licensed to use this and all other lakes for the generation of electricity.  Yes they sell to other systems, and as I stated for an overage of 15 times what we pay.  This helps keep our rates the lowest in the country.  They were doing this DECADES before you came along and will continue for decades after you are gone.  I understand it makes you feel self important to bash APCO as you do.  I hope you continue because I enjoy the smackdowns you continue to get from them.

As you so ineptly remind us, the water in this lake belongs to ALL the citizens of this state, not just those of us lucky enough to live along it's banks.  I bet the other 99.999%+ of Alabama residents don't give a rats f@rt  whether we loose an inch or so of water for the generation of CHEAP electricity.  And what 'expense to Alabama's citizens'?  What you really mean is wah wah, I may loose a little water in front of my leased lot. IF I was in charge I would add a clause to your lease that you MUST stop whining about water levels or your lease will be terminated.  But alas, I am not.   Don't project your pettiness onto the 'citizens of Alabama".  You are the only person I see/hear complaining.  The rest of the state understands that APCO are the experts and appreciate that we do have such low rates and that we have such a beautiful resource to play on.
