First, whatever you do, do it at night, when the yellowjackets are less active and on the nest.

Find the nest; it's usually just a hole in the ground, and you'll see them flying in and out.

If the hole is small enough, you can plug it with a bottle; the yellowjackets will fly into the bottle, get agitated, and turn on each other. Or you can pour a mall amount of gasoline down the hole.

The queen is the only one who will survive the winter, so if you can kill her in the early spring, that's one nest and a couple of thousand stinging drones who won't be around to bother you.
