If you followed some of the tweets on the left they felt pretty much the same way. Believe me, I can fully appreciate your frustration as I found myself shouting at the TV screen during McCain-Obama debates in 2008. Very frustrating when you are in that position and think there are points to be scored that are just not being raised.

I would say the point about Romney prepping for debates for years is probably only true in the sense that he recently went through a contentious primary while Obama skated. Also, Obama has only subjected himself to cream puff questions (other than Univision) from fawning journalists for the last four years. This is the first time he has been truly challenged and he was not ready. And I actually don't think he can make the shift in just two remaining debates. It took Romney literally dozens of debates to hone his responses and Obama does not have that luxury.

He will do better but again, he can raise all these side issues (47%, Romney's tax returns, Bain, etc.) but when he does he gives Romney a forum to respond in front of tens of millions of Americans, a luxury he does not have with attack ads. And lets face it, Obama does not have much in the way of accomplishments to tout. The economy is a wreck, the middle east is falling apart, the deficits have soared beyond all belief, etc. He has the very same headwinds that McCain had in 2008 and then some.

I saw a great picture of a smiling George Bush with the caption, "If Obama is elected for a second term, just think of the mess he will inherit this time!" Pretty funny.....and insightful. He may be better off losing a preserving his legacy as the first black POTUS instead of the Second and third coming of Jimmy Carter.
