It was a cast of characters during the primary with Hillary and Obama being one of the many. But he never to my recollection was engaged in a debate with Hillary one on one. But then again, she is not a good debater either so who knows.

As for McCain, you don't want me to get started but suffice it to say that McCain faced the very same headwinds then as Obama does today. He simply was incapable and/or unwilling to distance himself from Bush and as a result was always on the defensive much like Obama is today. But Obama never crushed McCain the way he was crushed last night by Romney.

As much as I would much rather have been Obama in 2008 running against an unpopular administration and an economy headed downward, I would much rather be Romney today. Remember, everyone left and right has always said that if this election is a referendum on Obama he is toast. Debate one was a referendum on Obama and it showed.
