You know we could go a little way toward solving some of our fiscal problems if every DemocRAT and every ReTHUGlican decided to never buy anything made in China...sure!!! Lets get real....the government needs to spend less in every field and it needs to increase revenue in a responsible way. Almost every economist, no matter where they are in the political spectrum, considers that as fact. The Republican mantra of "We have a spending problem, not a revenue problem" is BS. We have both spending and revenue problems. If we cut every dime of discretionary spending other than defense we would still have a deficit in the hundreds of billions. I don't know about you but I'm not willing to sell off Yellowstone, close the CDC and fire the FBI.

Copperline is correct in the need to borrow on occasion. This nation has a crumbling and antiquated infrastructure which eventually MUST be addressed. When a private company borrows to modernize it is called "investment" but the T Party purists scoff when Obama uses the term related to infrastructure improvements or research or education spending. If you must borrow, and we in fact must, doesn't it make sense to do it when the interest rates are near 0%? If we could get adults in charge (people more interested in getting something done for the country than getting re-elected) we might finally get a reformed and simplified our tax structure, reformed budgeting (investment where needed and cuts where possible and responsible), and actual reform of entitlements. Until we replace the nut cases on both extremes with people who are willing to at least consider compromise, then we will for certain eventually fall off a REAL fiscal cliff!
