My comment was based on my experience in 2000 when I bought the lake house. I called several companies because I was very unhappy with the company that had all my vehicles and home insured and was starting to shop them. But the closing on the lake house was very quick, just over two weeks from offer to closing. Everybody I called refuse to insure 2nd home without the 1st home also. So for expedience sake I just added it to everything else and then within a month or two changed over to new company. Trust me when I say I wish I had taken the time to do so before the closing. Changing with insurance in escrow was a royal pain, especially when I had paid six months or a year premium at closing. Getting the first company to turn loose was like taking a steak from a pit bull. I guess they felt entitled since they had been screwing me for years.
