MH, I'm a resident of the park with first hand knowledge of the situation. There are a number of misstatements in your post:
1. There have been no discharges into the lake, gray water or otherwise. The Outlook article even specifically pointed out that there were no findings of that by the Health Dept.
2. The plan being put forth by the residents is to bring the septic system up to code. No one is saying that the park should continue without making legally compliant repairs to the septic system.
3. The residents didn't install or maintain the septic system. That was the contractual responsibility of Pleasure Point Park. The residents wouldn't have been allowed to attempt septic repairs before now even if they wanted to.
4. Your analogy about the entire lake turning into a mobile home park is nonsense. The area where PP sits has been dedicated for recreational use under the FERC plan submitted by Alabama Power. Therefore, something similar to the park is the only thing that can exist on that land. Ala Power or RL or Donald Trump couldn't develop that land into something else even if they wanted. Conversely, AP wouldn't allow a similar development as PP on areas that are not dedicated to recreational use under the FERC plan.
