We wish that our Commander-in-Chief would say this:

“The citizens of the United States no longer wish to intervene in the affairs and behavior, no matter how uncivilized, of Middle Eastern… and especially Islamic countries. We have heard the position of the rest of the world as expressed at the United Nations. Though we are incredulous at the barbarism in Syria, we must respect the sovereignty of Syria and the will of the civilized world. We call upon the government of Syria to relinquish, turn over, control of its chemical weapons and to officially subscribe to the Geneva Conventions with respect to chemical and biological weapons, within 45 days. In the absence of that happening, the United States would entertain participating in… but not leading… a coalition of civilized nations, sanctioned by the League of Arab Nations… in military measures to seize and quarantine chemical, biological, and/or nuclear weapons. These measures, to be ratified by peaceful nations in general, and specifically the UN Security Council, will be supported by the United States of America.”
 
This is “Plan B” as nominally supported by Russia.  Here is a way for Obama and Kerry to save face. I’m sure they will be forced to make such a statement after… and if… Congress rebukes the Pretender on going to war.
