My wife worked for EPA when the shutdown happened in 1995. When they left they were told that they would get all their back pay and they did. Then the media lined up a bunch of whiny, snivelers that knew and had been told that they would be paid. And sure enough they got paid. Turned into a long paid vacation. That will happen again this time and again they will line up the liars telling us how this is going to ruin them, their children will starve, etc.
But what is different this time? Lots of things. One, the govt media no longer controls the entire message. Between talk radio, the internet and FoxNews more Americans will have access to the truth that Obama and Harry Reid are the ones that are shutting down the government. Two, unlike the historical compact that a government job pays less with decent benefits and retirement today government workers are paid more than the private sector and still have gold plated benefits and people know it and resent it. Three, unlike 1995 the government has incurred trillions in new debt and everyone with a brain knows that Obamacare will only add to it. Four, they have seen health insurance rates skyrocket as a result of Obamacare instead of the abject lies Obama told about how it was going to save the average family $2,500 per year. Five, Obamacare is very unpopular with most Americans, including a wide majority of independents.
