I don't think they are eating Obama's lunch.  They have merely reinforced the world view that the United States is fractured.  While Republicans are viewing this as a great victory on their part, they need only read what the rest of the world has to say to realize that they are only serving to reinforce the view that the U.S. is powerless and divided.  It's one thing to have a debate internally, but quite something else to take it out into the world.
