And you did not answer my question:  cite examples when democrats went abroad and said to foreign officials that an agreement that was being negotiated wasn't worth the paper it was written on.  The point is that you can't.  It's pure speculation on your part.  Yes, members of Congress go all over the world on "fact finding missions", and then they make promises for money, military support, etc.  We should keep them home and save the cost of the trip and whatever it is that they promise.

Yes, Harry Reid has said incredibly stupid things, as has John Boehner and Mitch McConnell and Nancy Pelosi.  But they havn't put those things in writing in a letter to a foreign party that we are negotiation with.  Words do not carry the same weight as a letter.  That's why international agreements are done in writing. 

I haven't made any value judgement about the Iranian agreement, because I haven't read the agreement.  I suspect, like most agreements, it will be symbolic, because frankly most international agreements I have read have no real teeth for execution.  But, it doesn't mean they don't accomplish anything.   Sometimes they can serve as a basis for continued meaningful discussions, or serve as a basis for future inspections.
