I agree.  We have to wonder where are all the smart people.  But often, but then you have to ask yourself - why would anyone put themseleves out there to ridicule by the press, having to release medical records, financial records and everything else, that really has nothing to do with the job.  We've become our own worst enemies. I doubt there is another country in the world that does that with any of their candidates for office.  If someone took a position on something 20 years ago, but holds a different view now, people want to delve into that.  I keep thinking about views I have held in the past, but over the years have evolved to a different view.  It's called growth.
