I watch the market pretty closely and do a fair amount of reading financial news.  Right now, there is a large segment of financial soothsayer that are predicting a major recession in the second half of 2017.  Other financial soothsayers are saying that there may be a market correction in 2017, because too many stocks are over-valued. Some like to focus on gaming what the Fed will do and what impact that will have on markets.  The thing is this  - the market responds to uncertainty, and hardly ever on specific events.  Recently, the markets have gone up and down because of economic news out of China and has absolutely nothing to do with anything happening here. 

So will the market go down after the election?  I'm no oracle, but I suspect that the markets will have some kind of response to the outcome of the election, if everything thing else remains as it is. 

I repect Brookings, but they are not oracles either.  It's entirely possibly that these two gentlemen that authored the article actually lean liberal and believe that all kinds of bad things will happen if Trump is elected.  I mean, they might as well predict a huge negative impact on the global markets to try to put uncertainty in people's minds.  Most people do not understand the "global market" anymore than they understand economics or the stock market.

the funny thing is that people that write this stuff, will beat their chests in victory, if anything they mention happens.  If it doesn't, it will never be mentioned again.  Repeat this to yourself "white papers are not the same as actions"
