On December 19, 2008, a week after Republicans in the Senate had killed a bailout bill proposed by Democrats, saying it didn’t impose big enough wage cuts on the U.A.W., Bush unilaterally agreed to lend $17.4 billion of taxpayers’ money to General Motors and Chrysler, of which $13.4 billion was to be extended immediately. He had to twist the law to get the money. Deprived of congressional funding, he diverted cash from the loathed tarp program, which Congress had already passed, but which was supposed to be restricted to rescuing the banks. “I didn’t want there to twenty-one-per-cent unemployment,” he said to a meeting of the National Automobile Dealers Association in Las Vegas last month, explaining why he acted as he did. “I didn’t want history to look back and say, ‘Bush could have done something but chose not to do it.’ ”

Obama deserves a lot of credit for finishing the job that Bush and his Treasury Secretary, Hank Paulson, had started. He stood with the auto companies, which were victims of extraordinary circumstances beyond their control. As the price of the bailout, he also insisted on some changes at G.M., including the installation of new leadership and the elimination of several brands.

I like to rank the president by how loudly you/Archie bitch - it puts Trump as #1(remains to be seen - lets give him the benifit of the doubt and blame the first 6 years on Obama ), those anarchists Washington, Adams and Jefferson somewhere in the middle and Obama and Clinton tied in last place.

I think looking at any one small part of the economy is putting blinders on to the overall health of the economy.  First you wanted to bash Trump for allowing a handfull of demonrats to stay in a job, Then you want to move on to Bush wars and recession, Then housing losses under Bush ( Woops forgot to even bring up Clinton and the subprime mortages that HE started which started the downward spiral of home foreclosures ) and have now moved onto the auto sales for car and light trucks and unskilled factory workers being replaced by a robot to put lug nuts on a new car.  Bush started the  auto bailouts and Obama continued, does that mean that Bush caused the problems in the auto industry or that Obama solved them, Hell no to either..  The fact you can say we are so much better under Obama then anytime in history just shows how ignorant you are of history and continually place blame on any republican in the last 200 years while whitewashing history to make people who are just as culpable in the problem as pure as the driven snow angels.  

I am sure you will weep for this country in a few hours as the liberal progressive ideology is started to be dismantled.
