While I agree that it would be good for them to walk the talk when it comes to making products in America, the apparel industry is one where there is almost no manufacturing base in the states any more.  Companies like these are really design, advertising and distribution entities and they outsource the manufacturing.  No different for major apparel companies like Nike, Under Armour, etc.  There is simply no capacity in the states and none of these apparely firms have the expertise or capital structure to build their own manufacturing base. The economics of their industry would not remotely work if they tried to build a manufacturing base in the U.S.  That same economic relaity applies to other industries as well.  And unfortunately probably the only way to compete would likely involve robotics which does not create the jobs we need.  There are lots of other industries where I do think we can compete and that is where we need to focus public policy with respect to corporate tax rates, right to work laws, affordable health insurance, reduced regulatory burden, etc.  To the extent the U.S. cannot resolve these impediments we will be hard pressed to compete economically.  That is the sad truth about manufacturing jobs in this country.
