Saw the movie last night and was very disappointed.  Hard to follow the timeline, no real character development, unrealistic aircraft performance, no compelling characters that you would identify with, etc.  But the cinematography was typical Chris Nolan and very well done.  No mention of the French having sacrificed mightily to hold off the Germans while some of the Brits got off on small boats.  At one point I was wondering whether anyone would get off the beach alive.    If you want to leave the theater feeling like you did with Saving Private Ryan or We Were Soldiers it won't happen.

On the airplane performance, I realize most movie goers won't get this but the Spitfire's were down to 14 gallons of fuel and seemed to fly forever.  A plane like that in a dogfight will burn 14 gallons of fuel in about 5 minutes.  And the final flying scene where the guy seemed to go on forever on a dead engine while shooting down a bomber defies all laws of physics.  Maybe I know too much but it just came off as hokey and unrealistic.

Was bummed that it was so poorly written because the acting was fine.  Not sure what Chris Nolan was thinking but he really let me down in his telling of an incredible story of WW2.
