Instead of trying to turn this into a political event,  Some people will have lost everything.  My father lives in Florida and was hit by two hurricanes in a row.  Although he was well insured, when he lost the sunroom to his house, he only got a fraction of the replacement cost.  Some houses in his neighborhood were completely wiped out. 

The thing about insurance is this:  you have a better chance of being fully compenstated if a disaster happens only to you and not thousands of people.  In a mass situation, your insurance company is not going generously view your claim, because they have about a million claims.  As a result, all of our insurance rates are going to rise because they have to pay for their losses somehow. 

People should have been smart enough to know they should evacuate - it shouldn't depend on what some politican says.  This storm didn't just happen, everyone knew it was going to hit and that it would be bad.  Now people are going to shelters, and being told their animals can't come in = didn't they learn after Katrina that people will not shelter if they can't take their animals? 

The best we can offer at this point is prayers and possibly donations to those who are affected.  It isn't just the material things that people lost, but it will also take a long time for them to recover psychologically.  They will no longer feel safe. 

Oh and btw, some liberals are questioning why Trump is waiting until Tuesday to visit the disaster - questioning if he really cares.  In my view, it is smart of him to wait, and I even question why the President needs to show up at all.  Usually their presence is more distracting than helpful.
