At least the cold weather doesn't come and stay for months.  That is one thing I like about the weather here, even when it is cold (er) than normal, it will soon be followed by a 70 degree day soon enough.  I'm from up north where it gets cold around November and stays cold until March or so.  You haven't lived until you had to shovel the driveway, before you can go to work, or fallen on your butt on the way to the mailbox, because what appeared to be merely wet, was actually black ice.
