His point is that an idiot in GA, who has not received any blessing from anyone, no training or approvals decided to take a gun to a "gun free zone" breaking multiple laws currently on the books was able to get through the metal detectors and fired off a shot in a classroom that did not hurt anyone. 

Since this was a pistol and not a AR15 that is acceptable in his mind since the AR15 is known to run out and murder everyone in reach with its 30 round clips and deadly bayonet lugs.

Have started to see the list of guns that D's are wanting to ban.  Marlin 60 is on the list, called that one - gun 99% of everyone I grew up with had access to from probably 12 years old to shoot squirrels.  

And before GFY says that no one is calling for the ban on squrrel rifles
