It's  interesting.  In the beginning, I thought that it was perhaps that they just didn't agree with Trump.  Some of the are older than dirt and needed to retire.  Others may not be happy that the Republican party is moving to the right, and not to the center.  I think that someof them don't think they will get re-elected with Trump in office.  

With regard to Paul Ryan, while I think he has done okay as Speaker, he is at heart a tea-partier, and it doesn't bother me to see him leave.  I've never been a fan and some of his ideas are downright scary.  I don't know that I buy that he is leaving politics forever.  Wouldn't surprise me to see him run for the Senate in a few years, or even President.
