It's very challenging to get here from SA.  My friends initially moved to Ireland for about 9 years before coming to the U.S.  He had the advantage of being a highly skilled dental technician and was able to find a sponsor in the U.S. that was having trouble finding home grown talent.  I know a number of people from SA and they are all hard working, tax paying citizens.

As a side note, one of the funniest calls I ever got from Stef was when he was on MARTA going to the airport.  He called me and said he was on the train with his fellow African Americans.  Funny thing with them was they really appreciated Nelson Mandela for his conduct toward whites after the end of apartheid.  They felt he was really trying to heal old wounds and create some unity.  Sadly that all ended after he left office and it has been a parade of socialists he!! bent on punishing the whites regardless of the damage it does to their economy.  I also know some that have stuck it out and the crime is simply unbelievable.  They all have to be armed in their homes and when they travel.  And with the latest govt it has only gotten worse.

I am glad they ended apartheid but the way it was done did not help the blacks in SA.  A more gradual process where private property rights were protected would have been much more effective.  But that horse has left the barn.
