Anytime you have to change an engine mounted impeller, be sure to check down line to be sure impeller pieces haven't stopped up your lines or even the block at the thermostat.  Been there, done that.  Typically, when the impeller shreds it's because the pump was starved of water.  You could have had a plastic bag wrap around the outdrive on that one mile run before the impeller shredded.  Irritating.
