You should write for the NYT the way way you can make up "facts" on the fly and then be dumb enough to write it. The population of ATL is 437 Thousand. The population of Alabama is 4.8 MILLION. The population of ATL "metro" is only 5.7 million. So tell us again  how downtowns population has grown by nearly 5 million in recent years, but remains at 437k? Edit: after posting I reread your post post and realized you would try to weasel out of it by saying you were talking  about  the "amount of increase" so I went back Google. Population of alabama in 2008 was 4.7 million so an increase of approximately 100k.not a large increase thanks to the grace of God. Not a high hurdle for the ATL welfare breeders to surpass. So how much did ATL "increase" over that same ten years. Drum roll please... A whopping NEGATIVE 37 THOUSAND.
