In essence Pelosi (and Schumer to a lesser extent) are trying to corral a caucus that wants a do over of the Mueller investigation.  Despite having spent $35M, issued 2,500 subpeona's, intereviewed 500 witnesses and were led by a bunch of Hillary supporters they came up with nothing on collusion/conspiracy and intentionally left in all the crap about obstruction in order to feed the left wing nut TDS sufferers.  And Trump provided them with unprecedented access and was fully cooperative.  And yet they want to have all the same witnesses come to Congress and testify again.  And they actually cited the Attorney General for contempt for following the law regarding grand jury testimony.  This is how far they've sunk because they didn't like the results of the 2016 election.

There is a lot of speculation that Trump wants them to impeach him and on some levels I agree that if they go down this route the voting public are not going to be happy.  If anyone thinks Pelosi didn't intentionally have a press conference to accuse Trump of obstruction and a cover up right before they met they are kidding themselves.  This is a game of chicken and we will see in 2020 who comes out on top.  I frankly think that if the economy remains strong and Democrats keep this up despite a majority of the American people being sick and tired of the fake Russian collusion story that not only will Trump be reelected but the GOP will retake the House.  The majority of Americans are just sick of this and want to move on and have no appetite for impeachment.  But the Democrat party is now being controlled by a lunatic left fringe and the more rational ones are terrified of being primaried so they are going along with the charade.
