Everyone is correct. Get in contact with Alabama Power Shorelines , and have them come out and take a look. We do a small amount of dreadging only, but usually it is part of an approved permit for a seawall and/or dock we are building for a customer.
If you are in a shallow area, and it drys out relatively well in Jan/Fed - The moet exonomical way would be to rent a machine like the others have mentioned, and do it yourdelf.
One very important note though. This will be spevified in your permit, 99.9% of the time, we are required by your permit to remove the material from the lake completely, and provide the GPS coordinates of where we disposed of the material off the lake. This is an important distinction between backfilling a seawall and actual stand alone dredging.
The project could be a great family bonding experience in the winter, or a divorce in the making.. ;)
