It's a commodity and the price is fairly stable so the difference is in the service you get from them. IF it is a lease tank you can cancel and get another or buy your own. The lease is usually about $3 month and some folks prefer that than ownig because they maintain it. In 20 years I have had to buy one regulator at about $100 if I remember correctly. That included installation. Tanks are standard 100,250, 500 gallons. Some companies will do a monthly fill and bill but most wont. It falls on you to check your tank and order when needed. Most companies I have used want a 100 gallon minimum to deliver but obvisuolly will do smaller fills on the 100 tanks. You have to remember the 80% rule which is they wont fill a tank more than 80% full due to expansion in heat and recomend filling at 20% level. So if yo have a 250 gallon tank the most that they will put is 200 gallons. Also don't ever let it run empty. If it does they have to do a leak test before they can refill it. It runs $60-80 a pop.
Hope this helps. I had to learn all this the hard way.
