Subject:   Question

I would still practice social distancing and would keep up the personal hygiene measures but otherwise would go back to normal.

As for the mask, I would not bother to wear one because it really doesn't provide much in the way of protection.  In our business we have to use respiratory protection on contaminated sites.  The only thing that works is a full face mask respirator with the correct cartridges for the contaminant.  In the case of viruses and bacteria it would be a minimum N95 but N100 would be even better.  And it would need to be fit tested to make sure it actually fits your face.

People using dust masks are giving themselves a false sense of security as most of the transmission is not breathing the air but touching a surface that is contaminated and then touching your face.  If you have an itch under the mask most people are going to scratch it.  And people driving around by themselves in their cars wearing a mask are just being silly.  But if it makes them feel better then have at it but they provide very little protection for the average user.  You will notice medical personnel that are around Wuhan virus patients are wearing a plastic face mask over their surgical mask which provides more protection.  They also replace their masks regularly because they are difficult to decontaminate.
