The whole mask thing has been a moving target from the get go.  Recall early on we were told to not use them so health care professionals would have enough supply.  Made sense.  Later we were told it was a good idea to wear masks despite the absence of any studies or evidence that it was helpful.  We use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in our business so I happen to know quite a bit about it.  I can assure you that the cloth masks and even the surgical masks are about 5% effective.  There is a reason why health care providers that are ill are asked to stay home....they know the masks don't protect them or the patient.  And there's a reason why scientists working with infectious diseases where Level A protection with full face respirators, supplied air and nitrile gloves and suits that are sealed.  If these masks provided any real, substantive protection that's all they would need, right?  Except it's not.

So for those that know how this works, they understand the reality that masks are nothing more than a feel good thing and unless you practice all the other measures they are basically worthless.  So for the government it is all about appearances versus actual results.....so typical.  I'll wear a mask if and only if there is a place I want or need to go that requires it.  I will not wear one just to falsely make other people feel better or safer when I know it's not even remotely true.  In fact, I actually believe that for most people it does more harm than good.  They get a false sense of security because they are wearing a mask and are less diligent with the other measures that can actually make a difference.
