So I have been careful to limit my contact with strangers as a way to limit the probabilitiy of contracting coronavirus.

After a visit by my granddaughter and great grandson a couple weeks ago, I learned that her (2) sisters in law, with whom she had significant contact, had coronavirus.  Granddaughter and great grandson were tested and both tests were positive.

I was concerned about the contact I had with them, so was very vigilant in my assessment of my personal condition in the ensuing time period.  What I did experience was a loss of taste and smell, but never had what would qualify as an elevated body temperature.  I had some mild congestion, but it was loose and not the dry cough attributed to coronavirus.

At our grandson's dinner tonight I told my granddaughter I thought she had given the virus to me and what she told me was very revealing.  She, too lost taste and smell for a while but also had no elevated body temperature.  Symptoms identical to mine.  She, as I feel perfectly fine now.

So, my conclusion is that we both contracted a mild version of coronavirus, but have recovered with no lasting effects.  Getting the virus is not a death sentence, and while some with pre-existing conditions experience far worse outcomes, getting it doesn't necessarily cause one to shop casket options.

For context, I am 75 years old but consider myself to be in good health.
