In the earliest times of our nation… before it became one… individuals with rugged spirits, personal fortitude, and self-discipline, went out into their fields, the forests beyond, and thence, the distant lands to the west. They did not carry medicines… indeed; they were not vaccinated beyond the natural immunities supplied by their European heritage. Unless they encountered the New World syphilis, they were protected beings (from disease that is.) They didn’t even have a tent, sleeping bag, or matches.

The indigenous people, a millennia separated from their migration across Beringia, were a violent lot. They engaged in – celebrated – violent combat, looting of conquered lands, slavery, and brutal torture of the vanquished. They had no clear concept of established sovereign boundaries. Against these “noble” savages, came the rugged, individualist - Eurogenic mountain men.

The natives were no match for the mountain man and his long rifle. They were no match for follow-on “Long-Knives” and tacticians who led them. They were no match for the literacy and organization of Europeans. Like the clans and tribes they so easily subdued, the indigenous people – noble savages – were laid low in about a century… at the hands of the “long-Knives.” (“Long-Knives” refers to bayonets.)  Hint: Tecumseh almost prevented this!

In less than a century, men of steel conquered a continent from the Atlantic to the Pacific.

In modern times the population of individuals with rugged spirits, personal fortitude, and self-discipline is paltry. The altruism which authored a profound document and gave birth to a great nation has become an almost non-existent trait. The “greatest generation” is all but deceased… leaving the self absorbed and coddled follow-on generations to search for succor and undeserved entitlement… while suffering because of their ignorance of history.

The fall of the Roman Empire is upon us. And, “we the people” lack the fortitude to prevent it.

Unless you are a patriot, you do not see your part in the future of the United States of America. Where will we find patriots?
