We tend to agree here, Fish. Having incurred a significant graduate and professional student loan debt over my lifetime, and having paid every last cent of it back myself, sacrificing alot along the way, I feel for those with student loan debt, but encourage them to pay it back as character building. Now, regarding graduate and professional school debt, I can be somewhat open to deferrment of principle and interest during residency/training, but even then, salaries of residents who are asking for student loan relief are far greater than during the years I trained. If you complete a graduate or professional training program that allows you to demand a salary that falls into the top 1-5% of income earners, then accrue the debt and pay it back like the rest of us did. You may have to delay that 500k house purchase, or that Beemer, or those Ferragamo shoes for a while, but satisfy your loan repayment responsibility yourself, not on the backs of those who have already done it.
