“I have been a gun owner for many years. Can you explain under the 2nd Amendmen (sic) how Texas can allow an 18 year old to purchase an AR15 but he could not buy a pistol until age 21?”

I wonder about such Texas law (Please cite your source). If you are old enough get married (defend your home), join the military (die for your country) – AND are not a felon or mentally unstable – why should the government violate your 2^nd Amendment rights?

I suspect that there was at least suspicion that this young man had severe mental/emotional problems – and NOBODY chose to do anything about it. I suspect he dominated his elderly grandparents to the point they were afraid of him. Rightfully so; he wrote on social media that he would shoot his grandmother. And he did!

"He never would have killed all the little kids with a pistol."

He barricaded himself. If that action was in a classroom full of elementary children, he had a plethora of terrified and cowering targets, including their teacher. He could have killed every one of them with a kitchen knife. After the first one, the remainder would become petrified in their extremis. (Note: Being part of a security team, I have law enforcement training on defense against active shooters – including being barricaded in a room with one.)

You, sir, need to step back! Emotion will NOT help you discern this problem and will NOT lead you to its solution. Actually you (and I) will not be a participant in the solution. I suggest you study the WHOLE incident based on MANY disparate sources. View every aspect of the situation and eventual solution with a calm and critical mindset.

I too, feel deeply for those children, teachers, parents, and LEOs. But many stupid acts are instigated by emotions such as fear, revenge, and impetuousness.
