Being a 40 year resident of the lake, I would generally recommend areas on the east side of the Tallapoosa River for the lifestyle you describe. However, I don't know of any place on the lake I don't enjoy...it's just the old adage that "some are nice to visit but I wouldn't want to live there."

Be patient and really look around...you can probably find exactly what you want.
