The head waters of the lake are 31 miles upstream from the dam. They are marked on all maps., but it is past Hillabee Creek and just little past Jay Bird landing. Most everything past Britt Creek and Camp ASCA is considered 'backwater' by most, but it is technically part of Lake Martin.
