here is a response from another site

dont lug that engine
going to a higher pitch will cut your upper rpms.

lugging the engine with too much pitch is tough on

the engine. you should prop your boat to

run close to the max rpms when lightly loaded. I've

done that, ruined a powerhead, (trying to squeeze out

a few more miles per hour) and wont do it again.
