I spent a few hours fishing a creek that has a white bass run. I think that I missed the peak, because the ones that I caught were scattered and there wasn't much activity. They were hitting best on small Rapalas fished fairly fast. I usually pick up some bass or bream as well when I go there, but this time I only caught one of each. However, I did foul hook a whopping big snapping turtle in the back foot, and he put up a good fight on 4 pound line, and that was only half of the battle. I didn't feel like parting with an expensive lure, so I spent several minutes digging the hook out of his foot (and that is some tough skin) while making sure that the front end didn't come around.
