This issue just won't die. The ban on high speed, off shore racing boats on inland waterways was not a conspiracy designed to make more money for some large corporation, nor was it an example of a failure of representative government to enact the people's wishes. The majority of people don't own these boats, and don't care to. The majority of lake users are folks with regular boats, and kids, and safety concerns. That's what this is about. Safety & the Quality of a Lake. Not freedom of speech. Not freedom of expression,. Not a conspiracy to suppress the rights of folks who want to put an open-sea racing boat on a fresh water lake.

Think about it for a second. If not for a limits like this, what would stop someone from launching a old coal barge built with a dozen condos and then dragging it around the lake with a tug?

There really has to be a time when rational limits would be placed on speeds and vessels to insure the investments & tranquility we have at this lake. The bill constains plenty of compromises that will allow for lots of speedy fun boats for those of us inclined to put money into them. Quit looking for more complicated reasons for the ban than that. And as far at Mr. Dial goes, if he didn't sponsor the bill somebody else would have. It was going to have to be.
